WHO WE ARE
Matthew Mitchell
Matthew Mitchell is the founding partner of Mitchell Wilson Architecture and a licensed Architect with 19 plus years of experience in high-end residential design. His career includes 12 years at some of the city’s leading boutique architecture firms, where he held key leadership positions and refined his approach to thoughtful, detail-driven work. After earning his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston in 2006, Matthew built a diverse foundation of project experience that shaped both his design versatility and his appreciation for residential architecture across a wide range of styles. Those formative years ultimately inspired him to launch his own practice. He takes pride in leading a firm that is grounded in trust, collaboration, and hands-on engagement at every stage of the design process. Matthew is a former president of the UH Architecture Alumni Association and enjoys giving time to the University by engaging in student reviews as a critic. When not focused on Architecture, he finds balance in life with his family. He has a deep passion for the outdoors and also enjoys hunting, cooking, traveling, pickleball and exploring food through various cultures. A proud husband and father, Matthew draws inspiration from every part of his life allowing those experiences to guide and enrich his architectural practice.
Partner
Austin Wilson, Partner at Mitchell Wilson Architecture, is a driving force behind the firm’s vision for thoughtful, classically inspired residential design. With a Master of Architecture and a Professional Degree in Urban and Community Studies from Texas Tech University, Austin brings both academic rigor and real-world craftsmanship to every project. He launched his career in high-end residential architecture, where he delivered multiple award-winning homes and discovered his passion for traditional and classical design. His path later took a unique turn: Austin founded a surveying company specializing in digitally documenting historic residences. This work gave him a rare, ground-level understanding of architectural detail, history, and proportion—expertise that now defines his design and technical leadership. A project collaboration rekindled his professional relationship with Matthew Mitchell, leading Austin to join the firm in 2019 as employee number one. Since then, he’s been instrumental in shaping the studio’s culture, design standards, and client experience. Austin is also a prominent leader in the classical architecture community. He served as Texas President of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) and teaches nationally for the ICAA, including programs in New York, regional intensives, and workshops across the country. He is part of the distinguished group of ICAA Fellows. Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, Austin recharges by spending time with his family of five, traveling, golfing, and getting outdoors whenever he can.
